Beth Kaye

Beth Kaye is an artist from Cornwall, UK. Beth trained as a textile designer and worked with homewares and furniture before being reintroduced to oil painting in 2021. Beth went on to study with the Newlyn School of Art on a year long program to refine her new found practice.

Home, design and object play an important role in Beth’s small scale art works, as carefully curated elements that are brought together to create intimate, calm spaces. Beth is interested in the idea of capturing brief moments of beauty, and providing quiet escapism in her work.

The writing of Gaston Bachelard has influenced the way Beth views the home, taking inspiration from the writer's theories of how houses shape our memories and dreams in his work The Poetics of Space.

Visual influences can be found in Dutch still life, Indian miniature painting, cinematic references and religious iconography.
