Temper Studio

George Winks and Katharine Prendergast, the minds and the hands behind Temper. From thier studio, lab and workshop in rural Wiltshire, they design and make idiosyncratic furniture that speaks to their fascination with experimentation, form and materiality. Drawn to the generative space between thinking and making and learning by doing, George’s detailed aesthetic softens the binary between art and artisanship, forming the foundation of Temper’s explorative, process-led approach.

Temper encourage an open-ended creative process that explores a continuous line of questioning between material and maker. Constantly learning from and led by the materials they work with, moving fluidly between problem solving, curating and making. Through knowledge and play, these learnings are woven and re-woven into every piece they make, forming a unique expression and story of how each and every object comes to be.
