We're excited to announce the next exhibition by Denman & Gould. If you've been to the shop, you'll be familiar with their work which we've had in store since day one.
Art and Design duo Denman & Gould present 'Other Place', a series of work exploring the idea of Shelter and its place in the surrounding landscape. This multi-disciplinary exhibition will bring together model making, textile design, print and collage, creating a rich and varied body of work that is sure to captivate.
Embodying the essence of home, Russell Denman has hand crafted a series of sculptural models that are designed to protect and house through a medium reminiscent of architectural model making. The Shelter series show meticulous attention to detail and exceptional craftsmanship. These sculptural forms are a true testament to the hand-crafted.
Eleanor Goulding’s large geometric embroideries form a backdrop to the Shelters depicting hand-stitched meditations on landscape and form. These modern embroideries are meditative statements about time, each meticulously hand-stitched using block colour with simple and subtle tone combinations.
With a focus on slow, thoughtful design, and a strong interest in natural materials, Denman & Gould are a design duo whose practise is rooted in the considered and the handmade. The multi-disciplinary studio create individual pieces of crafted objects, furniture, textile design and artwork, selling and exhibiting their work throughout the UK. ‘Other Place’ will however be Denman & Gould’s debut collaborative exhibition in Somerset.
With a mutual background in the Visual Arts, Eleanor and Russell founded Denman & Gould in 2013. Both individual and collaborative projects are created in their beautiful converted church studio in Dorset.
