Our current exhibition, Open/Wild, is a collection of watercolour paintings and mono prints by Kate Evans, inspired by her recent travels to Vietnam and Canada. Her work explores both the tropical and boreal wild.

Kate uses delicate line drawings and watercolour washes set against large areas of negative space and produces images that reflect the richness of their subject matter.

    Kate uses delicate line drawings and watercolour washes set against large areas of negative space and produces images that reflect the richness of their subject matter.
    The process of mark-making and experimentation with colour are important elements within Kate’s practice. She works in mixed media; using a combination of watercolour, pencil and sometimes oil. This allows her the freedom to produce different effects, playing with the transparency of the medium creating deep and layered imagery.
