searched out a version of reality from virtual safety, looking for the surprise of beauty, the
strange or the sinister, screened through the veneer of the banal.
Maggie Royle is based at Spike Island studios in Bristol; she was a founder member of Top
Floor Studios in 1997. Her practice is mainly painting and drawing; she makes both
representational and abstract paintings.
