Knife Making with Alex Pole

Alex Pole of Forge Kitchenware is offering us the opportunity to make our very own knives during a two day course this summer.  Over the weekend, students will learn how to forge a pair of tongs which will then be used for your blade smithing, along with a variety of different blades.

On day one, you will forge your tongs and practice with mild and high carbon steels to make foraging and small skinning knives. On day two, you will be given an introduction to forge welding which leads on to making a billet of laminate steel from which you can forge larger bushcraft style knives. These, along with your other pieces, will then be hardened and tempered.

You can camp in the orchard next to the forge, and you'll be fed with delicious, organic meals, made with locally sourced produce from a local cafe. What more could you want?

May and July weekend courses are already sold out but grab a spot on the June course, 24th - 25th.  Cost = £265 per person.
