• Draw/Explore x Sam Nias

The Kobi & Teal Gallery is proud to present it's second exhibition 'Draw/Explore'. Artist Sam Nias focuses on experimentation with light, colour, abstraction and process, operating somewhere between the scientific and the playful. He sees printmaking beyond a way of reproducing multiples and this collection has been developed within the framework of four-colour screen-printing.

The transformation from drawing to print has allowed each piece to become its own unique work, abstracting his drawings during the printing process. This freedom is complimented by the confinements of the layering method and Sam enjoys finding that balance between intuition and structure.

Sam developed a keen interest in screen-printing during his graphic design degree at Camberwell College of Art. This led him to study a post grad in Fine Art Printmaking at the Royal College of Art, London.

Since graduating from the RCA Sam has 10 years experience working for some of the most established commercial galleries in London whilst maintaining his own art practice. Sam has had numerous solo shows across the UK whilst also taking part in many group shows in the UK, Europe and Internationally. Before moving to Frome Sam completed a three-month screen printing residency at East London Printmakers. This experience has driven Sam to fulfil a longstanding ambition and set up his own print studio and the summer of 2017 will see the opening of 'Printmill Studios' at the Welshmill building, Frome.
