Sandra Porter

Sandra Porter portrait
Sandra Porter is a contemporary abstract artist interested in the symbiotic relationship between painting, drawing and printmaking. Inspired by architectural form her work currently explores a fascination with grids, stripes and recurrent schemes.
Sandra creates series of images that are similar but not the same. They work alone and also grouped. Her panels and segments of work, with contrasting layers, shape and form, allow one to explore playful visual connections, as the artist does herself.
Sandra has exhibited across the UK, Europe, the USA and South America. her work is held in numerous private and public collections, including the Tate and V&A Libraries, the Government Art Collection and University of Bath.
Sandra Porter studied Fine Art at Stourbridge College of Art, achieved an MA in Fine Art Painting from Chelsea School of Art in 1981 and studied Printmaking with Dorothea Wight at Morley College in the 1990s.
After a full career of teaching, Sandra now works as a full time artist and holds workshops from her studio in Somerset.  She is also a curator at Black Swan Arts in Frome.
